The Liberec artist Marek Lavko focuses mainly on portraits, which he creates using a unique technique of layering by pouring, where paint is poured onto a horizontally laid canvas until the desired shape is achieved. The blending of colours also spontaneously creates patterns around the portraits, which give the painting other meanings. Among the sports stars depicted are, for example, tennis player Rafael Nadal or domestic skier and coach Lucie Pešánová Hrstková.
The artist Ivana Štenclová will attract art lovers with a new rendition of the gymnastics icon Věra Čáslavská under the title "Myself...". The portrait of Věra Čáslavská is composed of small figures of practicing figures, which are extracted from the gymnastic elements of Věra herself. The face of the athlete then forms the essence of her professional life, reflecting the passion, tenacity, courage and incredible hard work she put into her spectacular performances every day. And she was always herself.
The trophy of the Beam of Courage and Hope Award of Věra Čáslavská will be placed next to her picture, which comes from the Lasvit workshop and the Czech Mint, designed by Maxim Velčovský.
Fans of Oscar-winning sports films will be attracted by an exhibition of ten posters.
