OVERVIEW
The main character of the comedy Dream Team is Marek (Martin Hofmann), a tough and unconventional basketball coach who fails in his attempt to get his team promoted to the second national league. He would rather quit coaching altogether. However, his son Šimon (Martin Polišenský), who has an intellectual disability, dreams of one day playing basketball for the national team at the Paralympic Games. Marek loves his son and decides to make his dream come true.
But he soon runs into a major problem: he cannot find enough suitable players who also meet the Paralympic eligibility criteria. At this point, his neighbour Daniel (Jakub Prachař), an unsuccessful theatre director, comes up with an unusual plan. He suggests putting together a team of non-disabled basketball players who will pretend to have intellectual disabilities. Daniel convinces Marek that this is their only chance of succeeding and qualifying for the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Although the plan is highly unethical, Marek is focused on one thing only – making Šimon happy. And so, a basketball team full of athletes pretending to have disabilities soon sets off for Rio. It is only under the hot Brazilian sun that Marek begins to realise just how much trouble he has got himself into – and how difficult it will be to find a way out.
